Hardeman County has six elementary schools, one middle school, one combined middle school and high school (grades 7-12) and one high school (grades 9-12). The county’s two high schools and four of its six elementary schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. HCS has10 Pre-K programs at all of its elementary schools. The Hardeman County Learning Center, on the Bolivar Middle School campus, offers an academic program, intervention and remediation for special needs students.

Students in kindergarten through the fifth grade are introduced to language arts, math, social studies, science, health, art and music. Special programs are available for exceptional students and special needs students. A variety of learning strategies are implemented throughout the schools that include cooperative learning, technology, math manipulatives, peer tutoring and hands-on science.

The middle school serves grades six through eight. The basic courses are offered, along with some exploratory courses that enrich the educational experiences of the students.   

Our high schools cover a range of programs from technical preparation to the basic courses and the Dual Credit Program and Advanced Placement classes for college preparation. A variety of electives are available to meet the interests and talents of our students. Block scheduling has been incorporated to allow students more subject variety and to conform with the Tennessee Diploma Project.
    

Any student who enrolls in the Hardeman County Schools or transfers within the county must live in the zone of the school they plan to attend. Transfers must be in compliance with the federal court order.
    

A child entering a Pre-K program must be 4 years old on or before September 30th of the Pre-K year to enroll. A child entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year. A child entering first grade must be 6 years old on or before September 30th and must have attended an approved kindergarten program. A person 18 years old or older who applies for admission to the Hardeman County Schools must have his or her application approved by the principal of the school he or she will be attending. Special education is offered for students 3-21 years of age.
    

A student may transfer into the Hardeman County Schools any time during the year if his or her parents or legal guardian move their residence to Hardeman County. Students entering school for the first time must present a birth certificate, a record of a complete medical examination, evidence of state-required immunizations and a social security number at the time of registration.
