Bolivar Middle School Supplemental Educational Services

Parents and/or guardians of Bolivar Middle School students received notification, mailed on Aug. 4, 2011, that the school did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress for the second year in a row. Under the federal government's law, No Child Left Behind, the district is required to notify parents and/or guardians that your child is eligible for Supplemental Educational Services if your family meets the income limits under the law. If so, you may now choose the SES free tutoring program that is provided outside of regular school hours.

Parents and/or guardians of Whiteville Elementary School students will receive notification in the form of a letter mailed through the USPS that the school did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress for the second year in a row. Board Of Education To Meet

The Hardeman County Board of Education will hold its regularly-scheduled board meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. February 9, 2012 in the board room at Central Office. The public is invited to attend.

HCS Employees: Special Enrollment Qualifying Events Update

Employees of Hardeman County Schools that have health care insurance through the board of education are reminded that they must fill out the Special Enrollment Qualifying Events application for enrollment in the link below and submit it within 60 days of the event. HCS Pre-K Registration

Hardeman County Schools Pre-K registration for the 2011-12 school year is ongoing. Currently, the following school sites have openings: Hornsby Elementary and Whiteville Elementary for children who will be four on or before September 30, 2011. If you wish to enroll your child, the following items are needed: Child's certified birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record (shot record), two proofs of residency (phone bill, mortgage or rent statement, cable or satellite bill, water or utility bill), form of income verification (W-2, paycheck stub, SSI, etc.), and record of physical examination. Applications for enrollment can be completed at the Hardeman County Board of Education, 10815 Old Highway 64, Bolivar, TN. School Support Organizations

The following School Support Organizations have been approved by the Hardeman County Board of Education: Hornsby Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization, Inc.; Bolivar Central High School Quarterback Club; The Bolivar Central Diamond Club; Middleton Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization; Bolivar Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization; and Toone Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.

Operation Child Find

The Hardeman County Schools provides a range of services for individuals with disabilities ages 3-21. The school system serves children with all disabilities through a variety of special education programs designed to fit the needs of the student. These programs range from consult services in the regular program to more specialized programs. Medical and therapeutic services are also available. Contact the Special Education office at 658-2510 for further information regarding the referral process and evaluation.

Special Education Records

The following types of confidential information are on file at the Hardeman County Board of Education: Referral information, academic achievement, school and/or home behavior, intellectual functioning, perceptual strengths/weaknesses, speech and/or language, physical coordination, vision and/or hearing screening, student interests and self-concept. As a parent, you have the right to review these records. If you feel that something is incorrect, you may request that the record be amended.
