School Board To Meet
The Hardeman County Board of Education will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. May 15, 2008. The public is invited to attend.
School Day Change
Hardeman County students will attend school on May 16, 2008 to make up for a day missed earlier in the second semester. The orginal school calendar shows May 16 as a Professional Development Day. Students will attend for the full day. The last day for school is May 22. Students will attend one-half day and will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.
Pre-K Registration
Pre-K registration for the 2008-09 school year is ongoing. If your child is four years old and you would like to enroll your child in one of Hardeman County's Pre-K programs, please bring the following items to the elementary school in the district in which you live: Certified birth certificate, social security card, two proofs of residency, immunization record and signed physical. Both of these must be recorded on the form for public school enrollment (may be obtained from the Hardeman County Health Department or from your private physician). After May 22, registration will be conducted at the Hardeman County Board of Education Central Office, 10815 Old Highway 64, Bolivar, TN. Operation Child Find
The Hardeman County Schools provide a range of services for individuals ages 3-21. The school system is currently identifying children ages three and four who may be eligible for special education preschool. If you have a preschool-aged child you suspect has a developmental delay or other disabling condition, contact Monica Shaw, Pre-K coordinator, at 658-2510.
Special Education Records
The following types of confidential information are on file at the Hardeman County Board of Education: Referral information, academic achievement, school and/or home behavior, intellectual functioning, perceptual strengths/weaknesses, speech and/or language, physical coordination, vision and/or hearing screening, student interests and self-concept. As a parent, you have the right to review these records. If you feel that something is incorrect, you may request that the record be amended. Dimes for AR Points
Farmers & Merchants Bank is once again sponsoring its dimes for Accelerated Reader points for all Hardeman County students in grades 5-8. Students who participate can earn 10 cents for each AR point earned during the six- or nine-week grading period. Students whose parents have an account at Farmers & Merchants Bank can earn 20 cents for each AR point. Money earned can be picked up after the six- or nine-week grading period or at the end of the semester. Students participating must be accompanied by their parent/parents or guardian and must show identification to receive money.
