In 2005, both county high school boys' basketball teams won state championships. Bolivar won the "AA" title and Middleton won the "A" title. This unparalleled achievement was heralded statewide.

Notable Boys' Basketball Players:
Before Desegregation, Joe L. Reaves played for Bolivar Industrial High (later merged with Bolivar Central High) and went on to play in the A.B.A. (Memphis TAMS) and N.B.A. (Pheonix Suns and Chicago Bulls) in the 1960's and early 1970's.
