Special Programs
Nasa Explorer School is a three year partnership with NASA designed to increase student interest, family involvement, and active participation in science, math, and technology.
Special Education programs focus on the needs of the exceptional child from pre-school through fifth grade. These services include resource classes, speech/language therapy, academically gifted, and comprehensive development classes.
P.I.E. meets the second Monday night of each month to promote parental involvement in education.
Accelerated Reading and Math are computerized reading and math programs used in grades 1-5.
Foster Grandparent program provides tutoring in reading for kindergarteners and 1st graders by community volunteers.
D.E.A.R. program provides 15 minutes each day for students to "Drop everything and Read."
Star Reading is a computerized program that diagnoses a child's reading level.
Drug Track Curriculum is a drug education awareness program taught to fourth graders by the Tennessee Army National Guard.
A+ Reading and Math are computer generated programs that diagnose a student's reading and math weaknesses, then create an individualized program for that student.
Read Across America is a school-wide participation in a national "Dr. Seuss" celebration of reading.
Junior Beta Club is available for fifth grade honor students.
The Science Fair is an annual event that allows students to demonstrate their knowledge of the scientific process.
The Spelling Bee is an annual contest with winners advancing to the county spelling bee.
4-H Club meets monthly in grades 4-5.
Science Club is a monthly activity for fifth graders who show a special interest in science.
Book It! reading incentive program is sponsored by Pizza Hut for grades Pre-K - 5.
Conversational Spanish is taught in the upper grades.
