Grand Junction Elementary School is located in the southwest corner of Hardeman County, approximately 50 miles east of Memphis on Highway 57. Community involvement includes volunteer readers from Crane Composite, Inc., Hardeman County retired teachers, First South Bank, etc.
Grand Junction Elementary School serves 238 students in a PreK-6 configuration. Our school has a faculty of 20 teachers, 1 registered nurse, 1 part-time guidance counselor, 5 paraeducators, 4 cafeteria workers, and 2 custodians.
Several programs play an integral part in students’ academics. They are as follows:
- Accelerated Reader – students are able to read a book and then take a computerized comprehension test.
- Orchard – research-based software program that provide systematic and explicit instruction in the following key components of early reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency.
- Lexia – a computer software program designed for K-2 that helps students to practice and master the skills taught in core reading programs.
- Pearson Education Technology – assess learning, language, math, and comprehension skills.
