2006-07 was a great year for the Middleton Tiger Tennis
Team. The Tigers/Lady Tigers clawed their way through a very
competitive season and made a great showing in the district tournament.
Laura Moss defeated Ashley Williams in 3 sets to advance to the
quarterfinals, where she lost to the eventual champion, Elizabeth Fine
of Madison Academic. Sam Moore and Jacob Klink had a terrific season
with an 8-2 record and carried that momentum into the district
tournament with a surprising upset in 3 sets of the #2 overall team of
Hayne Hazlehurst and Ryan Oakley of Madison. They then defeated Joe
Wentworth and Joe Weddington of Fayette Academy by default to progress
to the semifinals against the #1 seed from Crockett County. Middleton
eventually lost that match, but nevertheless had a wonderful season.
2007-08 will be consisted of 1 returning player, Haley Pulse. Shelby Stewart will also return to the team after an injury kept her out all last season. Much of MIddleton's success will be placed on the shoulders of 3 freshmen: Ashley Harris, Kristin Tetleton, and Mallory Langley.
This year's team definitely has some big shoes to fill, however, with enough practice and determination, this year could be just as great as last year's.
