Whiteville Elementary School

     It is time to end the AR program for the 2009-2010 school year.  The students have read many books and taken a recorder setting number of AR tests.  The number so far this year is 12, 733 AR tests and counting.  WES students hope to break the 13, 000 mark by the end of May.  Wish us luck, and you can help but reading with your child or children at home.  

   If you would like to really be impressed by the WES students than you need to visit the school. In the main hall of the school building outside the library door is a bulletin board that has the pictures and points of all the students who met their 3rd Nine week goal.  By the end of May, the bulletin board will change to show the students who met their yearly goal.  The good news is that some of those students are first graders who started taking AR test in December.  We are very proud of all the students who have worked so hard and read so many books to meet their individual goal for the year.  If parents, grandparents and others want to see how well the WES students have done just come by the school office, get a pass, and walk down the hall.  You can not miss the big bulletin board with the pictures on it.

    Students of WES are working hard each week to meet their individual reading goals.  The students who meet their goals each week will receive a special prize for that week.  At the end of each nine weeks the students who have met their nine weeks goal get an extra something and of course, at the end of the year there is always something very, very special for those hard working students who met their AR goals for the year.  Please help your child reach their A R goal each week so at the end of the year they will have their yearly goal met.  With the help of some special friends and the profit from the Book Fair we are planning a awesome end of the year event.
